Mangs mighty spaghetti bolognese fueled the remainder of the games and following supper the Santa team (ably assisted by Explorer George) were ahead on points…(explorer Peters team were sooooo close) Then Santa visited and handed out goodies! the night finished off with a movie on the big screen.. Next day baggy provided the breakfast of all cub champions -waffles! More games, including the new favourite…. Table top air pingpong hockey…. Fun was had by all and Akela wants to pass his thanks on to the Cubs leadership team, Shere Khan, Kaa, Mang and the invaluable brains behind the games and silent leader… Mrs Shere Khan! Cubs all went home with Smartie tubes to collect 20ps over Christmas, good luck. PS… Santa team won reindeer candy canes and the snowmen team took an admirable silver place and got canes for their trees….

Scouts Winter Weekend

On Friday the 29th November the Scouts packed up and headed off in the minibus for their winter weekend away at Dunluce Guide House. Once there, after setting up the hostel and unloading all the goodies brought by the Tesco delivery van, everything was set for a great weekend ahead.
On Saturday the Scouts headed off for various hikes around the North Coast. The older end made their way up Knocklayd and on into Ballycastle unfortunately getting a little bit of the beaten track and ended up covered in mud (this is why, guys, planning and following your route is important). The younger end undertook a series of navigation tasks around Ballycastle forest, this allowed all participants to use and improve their map reading skills, as they each took turns to lead the group on the hike. Both groups met in Ballycastle for an ice cream before returning to the hostel.
Once back at the hostel the Scouts the PL’s & APL’s undertook the task of cooking Christmas dinner for everyone and what a feast we had. After the washing up it was time for party games such as the ‘After Eight Challenge’ and ‘Ibble Dibble’.
In the morning after a leisurely breakfast of eggy bread (French toast) the scouts undertook an incident hike, abseiling, blind trail, lighting a fire off the ground and the invisible assault course was the order of the day. Lunch and the cleaning of the hostel were the last tasks of the weekend.
A fun and full weekend was had by all.

The Scouts and Explorers had a busy start to the month of December with a bag pack at Asda raising a fantastic £469. Thanks go to all those who helped as well as the staff and customers of Asda Coleraine.
The Explorers joined in with the Scouts’ activities on silly team building events that included making human pyramids, scrums, carrying relays and a mass game of Twister.
The Explorers visited the University of Ulster Fencing Club and spent an enjoyable evening learning how to fence; a return visit is planned in February.
The Scouts went ten pin bowling for their Christmas trip and called into McDonalds for their supper.
Scouts and Explorers finished for Christmas on the 21st December and start back again on the 11th January.

The day started with drawing a picture for Santa, with Jonathan’s picture being judged the best for Ballymoney.
Fun and games, making a lot of noise!

The Beavers then went on to spend some time singing and dancing to Christmas songs, making as much noise as they could with their tambourines and maracas.

Meeting Santa

After a refreshment break the Beavers listened to traditional Christmas stories, bringing the afternoon to a close was a visit to Santa to receive a Christmas stocking.
